Councillor Stephen Andrews was elected Mayor at the Annual Town Council meeting held on May 3rd, with Councillor Gordon King being elected Deputy Mayor.
“Cllr Andrews has lived in Westbury since December 2005 and is retired following careers in the Royal Air Force and latterly with the Civil Aviation Authority. For the last five years of which he was the Senior Aerodrome Inspector.
He lives in Westbury Leigh with his wife Mary and has been a Town Councillor since May 2007. He has been involved with many projects during his time on the Council including the refurbishment of the Laverton Institute and more recently the War Memorial in Edward Street. He has served as Chairman on both the old General Purposes Committee and the Financial Committee. He is involved with many other activities associated with Westbury Town Council. He is also Chairman and founding Trustee of Leigh Park Community Centre.
Cllr Andrews has chosen two charities: Carer Support Wiltshire and Welfare of the Elderly (Westbury) and will be raising money and awareness of these charities throughout the year.”
Mayoral Duties include:

• Raising the profile of the local community and the Council
• Promoting public involvement in the Council’s activities
• Raising money for their chosen charities
