Christmas Celebrations

Thank you for supporting the Christmas in Westbury event on Saturday 1st December.  We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did.

Christmas Card competition

It was a record breaking year for the Mayor’s Christmas card competition with over 60 entries submitted by the children of Westbury, the most every received.

In the face of tough competition Finley Lawson, aged 6, was chosen as the overall winner of the competition and his design will be turned into this year’s Mayor’s Christmas Card. Finley also won the 6-8 year old aged group category.

As part of his prize Finley also helped turn on the town’s Christmas Lights in front of a packed Market Place on Saturday 1st December.

Sophia Villamin (aged 5) and Thomas Whiting (aged 10) were overall runners-up and won the 3-5 year old and 9-11 year old categories respectively.  

All three children were presented with a £25 gift voucher by Santa on stage at the Christmas Lights switch on.

Christmas window competition

Dorothy House Charity Shop, on the High Street, were announced winners of the town’s annual Christmas Window competition at the Christmas Lights switch on Saturday 1st December.

15 local shops in the town entered into the festive competition and showed the town’s shop keepers creative side with some great displays.

Awarded top spot by the Mayor, Dorothy Houses display, made by the shop’s staff, took home a £50 voucher as first prize.

 Not Just Brides and Crosspoint were also highly commended for there displays.

Martin Dawson, Events Coordinator at Westbury Town Council said “It was great so many of our local shops entered the competition and it really added to the festive feel of the town centre. We hope we get even more entries next year”.
